So guys, This is the 2nd lesson for learning Indian Classical Vocal Music. This blog will be smaller than the previous one as in this I will tell you about some more basic terms about the classical vocal music. I hope you all are doing the Riyaaz as per my schedule. Take it seriously as it is the building block of your vocals. So without wasting any time let us quickly talk about some basic definitions that is -
1) ALANKAAR- It basically means the different pattern of the swaras. The swaras that is - SA - RE - GA - MA - PA - DHA - NI. These 7 swaras are used in different pattern and the pattern that is then formed is called Alankaar.
Importance of Alankaar -
a) Alankaar builds the strength in vocals which increases the range of a singer. It allows the singer to sing in high note or low note efficiently.
b) You can relate your vocals just as your outer body parts. Many of you go to the gym to train your body parts, similarly the vocal riyaaz is the gym for the strength building of the vocals and alankaar plays a very important role in that aspect.
c) Alankaar gives a good shape to the vocals which makes the vocals chords more sweeter and in better tune. If you do the practice of alankaars daily, you will notice that your voice is getting better and you are in tune when singing.
d) Alankaar stabilizes the vocals, when the vocals stabilizes, it gives a sweeter sound. If the voice just does not stabilize then it does not sound good and it does not leaves the good effect on the audience.
2) AAKAAR- It is basically the singing of the alankaars with the sound "AAA". Now understand this carefully, you will change the notes with the voice of "AAA" that is you will not speak sa re ga ma pa dha ni, you will just sing all notes as "AAA". Remember that you will change the scale of the notes as it sounds, you will just pronounce it as "AAA". When you change the note you have to make sound from the vocals. Remember one more thing- your mouth must be wide open while doing AAKAAR, If this instruction is not followed properly, it will damage your vocal chords.
Importance of Aakaar-
a) It opens up the vocals chords and increases the range of our singing.
b) The daily practice of AAKAAR is very important as all the different voice modulations that is done like murki etc is done with its daily practice. If a person does not practice AAKAAR on daily basis, then that person cannot do different voice modulations at all. We will understand about voice modulations in different lesson.
So guys that's it in 2nd lecture. I am giving you 2 more alankaars for your practice and I want you to do them in Aakaar as well. Try all the alankaar I have given you in Aakaar as well. And please guys share the blog as much as possible as I also need the support of you guys. Thank You!!!!
